Craigy-T enjoys solo success

Dancehall artiste Craigy-T, formerly of the iconic group T.O.K., is celebrating a career milestone with the success of his latest project, Unload. The collaborative album, created with Polish DJ Frodo, debuted on November 29 and quickly climbed to the top of the US iTunes Reggae Albums Chart within a week.

"Firstly, it feels great to have the EP as my first presentation to the music market. It's a personal achievement to bring the project from concept to completion. Then, to have it chart is a whole other level of joy," Craigy-T shared.

Chart recognition has brought an overwhelming sense of accomplishment for the artiste. "Every artiste wants to know their music is heard and appreciated. Having your album chart means, for that moment, you're at the top of your field. It means yuh ting have an audience now, however large or small, and that feels (expletive) GOOD," he said enthusiastically.

"I can't stop smiling. This is my first presentation to the world, and to see that it was accepted and appreciated is a joy," he said.

Unload is a seven-track project which includes songs such as Onion, No Echo, Man A Baller (featuring T.O.K. bandmate Bay-C), Pretty Gyal Wine, and Ay Ay Ay.

Despite the success, Craigy-T admitted he was pleasantly surprised by how well the album was received. "At this point in my career, I don't put too much expectation on my work. Mi do mi work, mi put it out there, and mi pay attention to see if people receive it the way I intended. It's really a joy to see that so it a go," he reasoned.

The artiste credited DJ Frodo for his exceptional work in bringing the album to life. He described their working relationship as seamless, despite Frodo's reserved nature. "We have a really good chemistry working together. Frodo doesn't talk much, so he only sent an explosion emoji and that was it. But, knowing him, I know he's very happy with the placement as well."

As Craigy-T continues his solo journey, he is determined to capitalise on this momentum. "It's all about putting in the work and staying connected to the audience. This is just the beginning," he said confidently.
