The Supreme court of Jamaica on Friday ruled in favour of female jockey Samantha Fletcher in a case brought against the Jamaica Racing Commission.
On March 7, 2023 Fletcher was punished for not riding her mount on merit.
The incident happened on February 4 when Fletcher rode “Gone A Negril” in the seventh race of the day, finishing in seventh place.
Judge Ann-Marie Nembhard ruled that the 20-days suspension by the racing commission be quashed.
She also ruled that the denial of Fletcher’s appeal against the suspension by the Racing Commission be quashed.
The court awarded cost against the racing commission.
