An uncle and nephew have been charged with the murder of Joanne Estick, a Siparia woman whose severed head was found in a cooler.

On March 13, officers in the Siparia district responded to a report of a human head being discovered in a bag in a drain at Sennon Village. The victim, 60, of Siparia, was last seen walking along the roadway the day before.

One male suspect was arrested in connection with the matter on March 25 while the second was detained on March 31.

Michael Edwards, 44, of Corinth Village, San Fernando, was charged with the offence on April 2, while his co-accused, and nephew, Ryan Edwards, aka ‘Gangy’, of Sennon Village, Siparia, was charged the following day.

The Sufficiency Hearing date for both men has been set for October 6.

Estick’s body is yet to be found.
