Caribbean Broilers Jamaica, CB Group, has won the CARICOM Farmer of the Year award.
The award was presented by the Inter-American Institute for Cooperation on Agriculture at Caribbean Week of Agriculture, 2024, in St. Vincent and the Grenadines.
It recognises CB Group’s groundbreaking contributions to sustainable agriculture and its impact on regional food security.
Regional development manager at CB Group, Alicia Bogues accepted the award.
The Ministry of Agriculture in a statement says the award marks a major victory for Jamaica and its leading practices in sustainable agriculture.
Portfolio minister Floyd Green says it is a huge win for the 1,300 employees of CB Group and by extension, Jamaica.
He says it reflects the company’s continuous hard work and commitment to the sector.
Minister Green says copping the award demonstrates how Jamaicans can lead the way in overcoming the challenges in agriculture through modern and consistent farming practices.
