Cakewalk for Bootylicious in Ahwhofah

AFTER TAKING BOOTYLICIOUS back home for $3 million at the November 10 Mixed Sale, Peter-John Parsard is out to show the four-year-old speedster’s worth in Saturday’s Ahwhofah Sprint, lowered to overnight allowance after throwing a scare at a mile at the higher open allowance a day before the sale.

Quietly backed at 5-2 in the St Elizabeth Distaff on Jamaica Cup Day, BOOTYLICIOUS tried to steal a march on rivals, peeling 10 lengths clear, entering the lane before POWER FROM ABOVE took dead aim to run by inside the last furlong.

BOOTYLICIOUS lost second by a short head to SISTREN TREASURE in her audacious attempt to make all at a mile. She returned the following day, in the Mixed Sales ring, attracting spirited bidding, only for Parsard to take her back to his stables for $3 million, reportedly turning down a post-sale offer of $3.5 million.

The Ahwhofah should be a cakewalk for BOOTYLICIOUS, who, in her previous race, used terrifying speed, ripping splits of 23.4 and 47.0 to make MONEY MARKET and imported CHOCOMO appear slow at five furlongs round.

Zipping from post-position three with champion jockey Reyan Lewis, BOOTYLICIOUS, last year’s Thornbird Stakes winner, made light work of rivals, clocking 1:00.0, which could have been lowered had Lewis not settled for a six and a quarter length win.

Backed down to 1-2 in the eight-horse field, defeat was out of the question for BOOTYLICIOUS, who was third last time out behind ABILITY and I AM FRED in higher open-allowance company.

Saturday’s Ahwofah should be no different for out-of-class BOOTYLICIOUS, a winner of six races from 13 starts.
