7 months ago 36

Only child between former Dancehall Queen Carlene Smith and the King of the Dancehall Beenie Man, Crystal Davis, has undertaken a career in the entertainment industry by becoming an ambassador at the popular nightclub, Meca.

Meca, (Marketplace Entertainment Centre For The Arts) is an events venue for a plethora of activities and according to Crystal, she is a host at the establishment. She stated that she got started in the business after her mom’s podcast, Sex and Dancehall, moved to Meca and she experienced the working environment.

Crystal said she told her mother of her desire to work. “I told her I wanna work here…I wanna host. I want to host events and I want to host my own podcast,” she stated while speaking to Winford Williams.

She became a member of the Miami branch for Meca and came up with the idea to “have like a interactive party between Kingston and Miami, Florida.”

The 25-year-old also started her podcast, Dancehall is my DNA, around the same time. The podcast is centered around the career path of Dancehall artistes, their stories, backgrounds, and the Dancehall era.

Her first podcast guests were her parents whom she interviewed separately, and the episodes can be seen on the Meca Tv app where the podcast is streamed exclusively.
