Recording artiste Hezron has joined forces with dancehall veteran Beenie Man for the single Ain’t Too Proud To Beg.
Produced by fellow musician Richie Stephens under his Pot Of Gold label, the track will officially be released on June 7.
Described as a heartbreak song, the uptempo beat is a direct contrast, making it one that is ideal for dancing and partying.
“Richie Stephens was working on a project and felt that my voice was fitting for the part, so he reached out and we connected,” Hezron told the Jamaica Observer.
Hezron and Beenie Man last collaborated 20 years ago on a track titled
In Da Club and were long overdue for another hit. While this is a first-time collaboration between Hezron and Richie Stephens, both men have already decided to work together again based on the high calibre of the production and the positive feedback from fans around the world.
“The response to this track has been overwhelming. It has been released unofficially and so far has garnered lots of support; people seem to like this record a lot. This one is an international crossover, especially since Beenie Man is a world-renowned artiste. The song is a familiar one with the old school soul vibes,” Hezron said.
Meanwhile, Richie Stephens said that Hezron was hand-picked for the project, and that it came together seamlessly.
“When I was putting the track together I kept hearing ‘ain’t too proud to beg’ playing in my head. Hezron is one of my favourite Jamaican singers with a soulful voice that I believe could deliver this great song. So I asked him to come to the studio and I played the track with me singing the demo, and he went straight to the voice room and just knocked the song out of the park with his outstanding vocal ability,” he told the Observer.
Hezron started the year 2024 strong with the promotion of singles from his
M.O.A.M (Man On a Mission) album; namely, Made For The Battle featuring Turbulence, as well as a new song Natural Woman, which was released in celebration of International Women’s Day.
He has a slew of live performances in the pipeline, after completing two successful shows in May; namely, Africa Day at the Waterfront and a Mother’s Day show in Hopewell, with special guest artiste Noddy Virtue making an appearance.
The artiste said fans can Expect to see him on the road even more in coming months, with worldwide performances slated for parts of Africa and Europe, Canada, and the US.
