Beach Soccer Jamaica's appeal dismissed

The appeal by Beach Soccer Jamaica (BSJ) against the court's decision to allow the Jamaica Football Federation (JFF) elections to proceed before the April 23 start of a trial was dismissed by the Court of Appeal today.

BSJ had originally gotten an injunction that blocked the elections of the JFF but that was lifted. Lawyers for the BSJ took the matter to the Court of Appeal, with today's ruling opening the way for JFF to convene elections.

The JFF executive, however, was already making plans for the elections, with a meeting scheduled to take place this weekend, when a date would be announced.

The Pat Garel-led BSJ is locked in a bitter dispute with the JFF about the legitimacy of the organisation as a member of the JFF. BSJ took the matter to court and the trial will begin on April 23.
