Bartlett Wants to Tap US $90 Trillion Commonwealth Market

Tourism minister, Edmund Bartlett, is highlighting the need for a stronger and more collaborative tourism strategy across Commonwealth nations.

He says this can unlock approximately US $90 trillion of GDP.

Minister Bartlett noted that the combined GDP in the Commonwealth reached approximately US $14.2-trillion in 2022, with a trajectory towards US $20 trillion by 2029.

Intra-Commonwealth trade, which reached US $854 billion in 2022, is projected to exceed US $1 trillion by 2026.

Experts say this offers vast potential for growth in sectors such as tourism, food trade, foreign direct investment and services.

Minister Bartlett is urging the Commonwealth Secretariat to take the opportunity to enhance visitor facilitation, open skies agreements, visa liberalisation and technology integration to boost connectivity among member states.

Meanwhile, Minister Bartlett says persons who travel to Commonwealth countries will be able to have unique experiences across the Caribbean, Africa and the Pacific.

He highlighted advancements in aviation as an opportunity to facilitate greater travel within the Commonwealth.
