Amber Group & UTECH Partners to Assist 100 Start Ups

Jamaica-based technology firm, Amber Group, has partnered with the University of Technology, UTECH, to assist 100 start ups to launch their businesses over the next three years.

The Amber UTech Launchpad was announced Wednesday evening at UTECH.

Over $2 billion is expected to be invested in 100 startups over 1,000 days.

This investment will help startups with capital training and market for their products from start to finish.

Amber boss, Ambassador Dushyant Savadia reflected on his own struggle to get startup capital injections in Amber and how difficult it was to get money from the banks.

For his part, newly appointed president of UTECH, Dr Kevin Brown says the project will push productivity.

The partnership with Amber Group and UTECH was forged by Prime Minister Andrew Holness in his bid to push economic growth.
