Rising dancehall artiste A-Suh Boss is gunning for the genre's top spot with his latest single, Chappa Cry.

"[The song] is an explanation on why the youth are forced to embrace a hustling mentality at a young age, living in the fast lane, getting that money to fuel their big dreams, and create generational wealth," said the artiste, whose given name is Yashoy Anthony Clarke.

The single, produced by Monk Music, was released in October, and has been generating quite a buzz in music circles. A-Suh Boss grew up in the communities of Red Hills and Arnett Gardens, St Andrew, spending time between his parents' respective residences. He attended Norman Manley High School, and, fascinated by music, first got involved in music through the influence of a friend. He later joined a dancehall group called Frasses. He released his first song, Start Fi Walk, in 2013.

"That song is self-explanatory, as it was the beginning to my musical career; mi just start learn the business," he joked. After leaving Frasses, he continued to work on his craft and re-christened himself A-Suh, a name given to him by his son, who was two years old at the time. The Patois phrase means 'that's how'.

"A-Suh ... is dancehall and representative of my Jamaican heritage," he said.

He first vaulted into the spotlight with the single, Impostures. He recently completed his eight-song EP titled Renaissance.
