For the first time in 35 years, dancehall artiste/social media influencer A'mari DJ Mona Lisa will be spending Christmas in Jamaica.

In fact, she stated that she has a lot to be jolly about as she and her new beau, 7Lord, who she referred to as her soulmate, will be spending the entire Yuletide season together. She also hinted that she could be on her way to carrying his last name.

"I know we will spending Christmas Day together, but I think he wants to surprise me. He has already taken me somewhere to try on wedding rings, so I think something really special is coming up. They actually measured my marriage finger, so I think he has something planned, but I haven't seen the ring as yet," A'mari said.

Growing up in a large family in Guys Hill, St Catherine, A'mari who now resides in the US, said other than the delicious meals, slices of fruit cakes and sorrel drink, her fondest Christmas memory in Jamaica included playing Mary in a re-enactment of the birth of Jesus.

"As kids, we were allowed to act out the scene, and I was Mary. I always admire her and the motherly figure that she was and the love she had for Jesus. She had a holy countenance on her face, so I was Mary. There is just no Christmas like the ones in Jamaica, so because of that, I never celebrated it overseas," she said.

The singer said while other little girls were grateful for dolls and other toys, she was different.

"Believe it or not, my favourite and [most] meaningful gifts came from my pastor. In my younger life, I enjoyed getting books as gifts. Whenever I performed at Christmas, I would get schoolbags and books. And that meant a lot to me, because my grandmother always told me that education was significant," she said.

In addition to spending the holidays with the love of her life, A'mari said she will be giving back to the needy, and her focus will be on the children.

"I love and live for children and I like to see them happy. I want to put joy and smiles on their little faces, so we are currently narrowing down where we will be hosting a treat and making cheerful stops," she said.
